June 21, 1935 — Dorothy B. George, One of first women in Los Al to get pilots license

I’m not sure just how accurate the headline is but I thought this little tidbit from the June 25, 1935  LA Times to be of interest.

Eleven applicants for mon-commercial grades of flying licenses, including two women, were approved in this area during the week ending June 15.  It was announced by J.S. Marriott, supoervising aeronautical inspector for the Department of Commerce in the Los Angeles District.

Private pilots approved are Alex J. Aronson, Los Angeles; William B. Brees, March Field; Dorothy B. George, Los Alamitos; Leigh A. Jackson, Pasadena; James E. MacLean, Fillmore; Norman S. Peterson, Huntington Park; Albert V. Thomas, Pasadena; and Frabnk Trapini, Los Angeles.

Amateur licenses were extended to George G. Dary, San Bernardino; Wilma B. Fritschy, Los Angeles, and John Miller, San Diego.
