Trying to resurrect the crowds and action that was not be found during the short history of The Pike, Griffins Grill opened on Monday, November 16 and seems to be successfully winning back the crowds that once swarmed to Mr. B’s Casa Catillo before that.
This is actually the 5th restaurant to occupy this spot. The first was Friedman’s deli which only lasted a short time before the long-running Casa Castillo moved into town, followed by Mr. B’s, the Pike and now Griffins Grill. Trying to capitalize on the local hometown crowd, the restaurant features large photos of Los Alamitos High activities and the back room is dedicated to the Griffin Hall of Fame.
Griffins Grill is spearheaded by Matt Herrick, who spends his days working a the Vice President for Marketing at Southland Credit Union. He and some partner’s also own similar but smaller venues in Downey and Garden Grove. Matt is a resident of Rossmoor.
