LOS ALAMITOS — Elmer Layton, resident of Los Alamitos for 36 years, died Sunday in Orange County hospital after a long illness.
He owned and operated Layton’s Blacksmith Shop until 1954 when it was taken over by his son, Leo. Mr. Layton lived at 10841 Los Alamitos Blvd.
He was active in the Masonic Lodge.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Mottell’s & Peek Colonial Funeral Home of Midway City with the Rev. Lawrence Jones officiating.
Private interment followed.
Surviving are his son, Leo, of Los Alamitos; a daughter, Mrs. Minbel Desmit of Pasadena; three brothers, Joe of Pomona, Charles of Hopeville, and George of Whittier; and two sisters, Mrs. Jean Deschene of Claremont and Mrs. Martha Torrange of Upland.
