Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Watts, 10931 Chestnut, will quietly observe their sixtieth wedding anniversary here Sunday.

They are among the oldest residents of Los Alamitos, having moved here in 1911[ref] It’s possible they followed a relative to the town.  One Joseph R. Watts was listed as the Los Alamitos town constable in the 1899-1900 Orange County directory.[/ref] .  Mrs. Watts recalls the town was quite active then, with the sugar factory employing about 200 workers and operating day and night.

The Watts were married in Longton, Elk County, Kansas, In 1896.  Mrs. Watts had been born in Longton, and the house in which she was born is still standing.  Mr. Watts was born in Illinois.

They lived in Kansas 35 years with farming as their occupation.  Then they moved to Los Alamitos.  Watts was in the grocery business for about 12 years.

They have two daughters, Mrs. Marion McClain of Fallon, Nevada, and Mrs. Charles Gallaher of Long Beach.  There is one grandchild and one great grandchild.
