Mrs. O Watte new Pres. of St. Isadore Altar Society

The Enterprise, Thursday, February 12, 1954, page 7

Mrs. Oscar Watte was elected president for the coming term of the Altar Society of St. Isadore’s Catholic Church of Los Alamitos.

She will be assisted by Mrs. Camille Pattyn, who was chosen vice-president; and Mrs. Bruce Baker will be secretary and publicity chairman.  Mrs. Ray Kelley was elected treasurer.  The installation was held last week.  Two new members were introduced: Mrs. Bruce McGraw and W.C. Kuppen.

A point of interest here is that none of the names are Hispanic.  St. Isadore’s is often portrayed as a Hispanic Church.  It no doubt served the many Mexican workers in the area, but it also served the non-Hispanic Catholic population as well.  Watte and Pattyn were of Belgian  descent.  Father Dominic Daly served as the pastor here as he did at other nearby Catholic churches.
