LOS ALAMITOS
Is located on a branch of the Southern Pacific Railroad some 14 miles northwest of Santa Ana. It is the heart of the sugar beet section and the Los Alamitos Sugar Beet factory is located there. This establishment alone distributes between $550,000 and $600,000 yearly among the farmers. The soil is a rich, deep, moist loam and perfectly adapted to the cultivation of a great variety of products without irrigation, most important among which is the sugar beet. The climate is mild and invigorating and owing to the close vicinity of the ocean, some five miles distant, is cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter than further inland. The water for the land is obtained from artesian wells. A good school building and union church have just been completed.
